HD Flowtech cast steel gate valves are engineered for full-bore isolation service in general process, steam, and industrial pipeline systems. The WCB carbon steel cast body provides reliable structural integrity at PN25 operating pressures, suitable for process plants, steam distribution, cooling water systems, and general industrial piping service. The bolted bonnet design allows internal access for seat inspection and maintenance without removing the valve from the pipeline. The extended rising stem configuration raises the handwheel above the pipeline centerline, providing clear visual open/closed position indication and convenient manual operation in installations where the valve body is close to grade level, in valve pits, or in congested plant piping arrangements. A bottom drain connection allows condensate and sediment removal from the valve body without depressurizing the pipeline. Flanged end connections to ASME B16.5 and EN 1092-1 PN25 ensure compatibility with both ASME and European standard pipeline flange systems.

Gate Valve Technical Overview

How to Choose the Right Gate Valve for Industrial Applications

Gate valves are selected for full-bore isolation service in general process, steam distribution, and industrial pipeline systems where minimal pressure drop and reliable long-term shut-off are required. The wedge disc retracts completely outside the flow path in the open position, making cast steel gate valves the standard choice for process plant isolation, pump suction and discharge lines, steam mains, and cooling water systems across oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, and general industrial applications. Gate valves are not suitable for throttling or flow regulation service.

Cast steel body construction (WCB, WC6, WC9) at PN16–PN40 covers the majority of general process and utility service requirements, with bolted bonnet construction standard for Class 150–300 allowing internal maintenance without pipeline removal. Extended stem configurations are selected where the valve body is installed below grade, in valve pits, or in congested plant piping arrangements — raising the operator to a convenient working height while maintaining full visual position indication via the rising stem.

Body material selection follows service temperature and fluid requirements — carbon steel (WCB) for standard service up to 425°C, alloy steel (WC6, WC9) for high-temperature steam and process applications up to 600°C, and stainless steel (CF8, CF8M) for corrosive media. Handwheel operation is standard for smaller sizes, with gear operators selected for larger bore valves. Design standards API 600 and ASME B16.34 govern pressure-temperature ratings and material requirements across all service conditions.
