In the picture is a cast ductile iron globe valve, DN50 PN16, blue epoxy coated, body marked GGG40. The ductile iron body makes this the correct selection for low-pressure utility service — water supply, heating and cooling circuits, and general plant piping — where cast steel is over-specified. Inside screw rising stem (IS&Y) design with exposed threaded stem and open yoke bridge. Bolted bonnet, packed gland seal, raised face flanged ends, and black cast iron handwheel. Cost-effective for high-volume procurement in non-critical process and building services applications.

Globe valves are specified where flow must be throttled and regulated. Their disc-and-seat geometry produces a near-linear flow characteristic, giving precise and repeatable control over flow rate under sustained partial-open conditions without accelerating seat wear. This makes them the standard selection for pressure letdown stations, bypass lines, minimum flow protection circuits, boiler feedwater regulation, and chemical injection service. In high-cycle isolation duty, the seating geometry maintains tight shut-off performance over extended service life, reducing maintenance intervention in critical process lines.

Cast Globe Valves is usually designed for larger bore general and heavy process service — oil & gas, power, and chemical plant piping. Cast body construction suits sustained throttling, pressure letdown, bypass, and high-cycle isolation duty across standard to high-pressure applications. On the other hand, Forged Globe Valves are usually specified for small-bore, high-pressure, high-temperature critical service. Forged body eliminates casting porosity, making them the correct choice for hydrogen service, high-pressure steam, boiler trim, and chemical injection where leakage integrity is non-negotiable. Standard selection for Class 800 and above.

Low Pressure — PN16 / PN25 / Class 150–300
For utility and non-critical process service — cooling water, low-pressure steam, and general plant piping. Cast WCB or ductile iron body with standard trim. Cost-effective for high-volume EPC procurement.

High Pressure — PN100–PN420 / Class 600–2500
For critical process lines, high-pressure steam, wellhead, and reactor feed service. Hard-faced or Stellite-overlay trim for erosive and high-velocity conditions. Forged body standard at Class 1500 and above. Compliant with ASME B16.34 and API 623.
