HD Flowtech stainless steel knife gate valves are designed for full-bore isolation service in slurry, wastewater, pulp, and viscous fluid pipeline systems. The SS304/SS316 stainless steel body provides excellent corrosion resistance against aggressive media, chemical dosing lines, and corrosive wastewater streams. The knife-edged gate disc cuts through fibrous, viscous, and slurry media on closing, preventing buildup and ensuring positive shut-off in applications where conventional wedge gate or butterfly valves would experience seat fouling and sealing failure. The lug-type body design allows end-of-line service and independent removal of downstream piping without disturbing the upstream pipeline. A sleeve seat in EPDM, NBR, or PTFE provides a resilient seal around the gate disc, accommodating particulate-laden media while maintaining bubble-tight shut-off. The open-frame yoke construction minimizes media contact with the stem and yoke components, reducing maintenance requirements in dirty or corrosive service environments.

Gate Valve Technical Overview

How to Choose the Right Gate Valve for Industrial Applications

Knife gate valves are selected for full-bore isolation service in slurry, wastewater, pulp and paper, mining, and chemical processing applications where conventional gate or butterfly valves are not suitable due to media fouling, fibrous buildup, or high solids content. The knife-edged gate disc cuts through viscous and particulate-laden media on closing, ensuring positive shut-off where standard valve designs would experience seat damage and sealing failure.

Stainless steel body construction (SS304, SS316) is selected for corrosive wastewater, chemical processing, and food-grade applications where carbon steel body materials are not compatible with the process fluid. Ductile iron and WCB bodies provide a cost-effective solution for mining, mineral processing, and general slurry service where corrosion resistance requirements are less stringent. Sleeve seats in EPDM, NBR, or PTFE are selected based on fluid temperature and chemical compatibility — EPDM for water and general chemical service, NBR for oil-based media, and PTFE for aggressive chemical and high-temperature applications.

Lug-type and wafer-type body designs are standard for compact, lightweight installation between pipeline flanges, minimizing face-to-face dimensions in space-constrained process plant arrangements. Handwheel operation is standard for smaller sizes and low-cycle applications, with pneumatic cylinder actuators selected for automated isolation duty in wastewater treatment, mining, and process plant systems where remote operation and high cycle frequency are required.
