Water and municipal infrastructure projects have different procurement dynamics from industrial plant. The valve specifications tend to be more standardised — flanged butterfly valves, resilient-seated gate valves, check valves — but the project requirements around buried service, corrosion protection, extended service life, and outdoor installation add their own layer of engineering considerations that not every industrial valve supplier thinks through properly.

District Heating Networks
District heating is probably our highest-volume application within the municipal sector, driven by China’s large-scale centralised heating infrastructure in northern cities.
Shijiazhuang Huadian Heating Group stands out as our most active district heating customer. Beyond the power plant contracts already covered in our power generation references, HD Valves has supplied multiple rounds of district heating network valves — welded ball valves, flanged ball valves, threaded ball valves, globe valves, automatic exhaust valves, manual control valves, and gate valves for the Shijiazhuang urban heating network renovation and old residential area heating upgrade programme. The scope of these contracts reflects the full range of a large city heating network — from DN25 small-bore threaded connections through to large-bore welded ball valves on main distribution headers.
Ordos Tonghui Heating and Gas Group — buried insulated full-bore welded ball valves for direct-buried district heating primary network, across two separate contracts for the heating and gas infrastructure maintenance and technical upgrade programme.
Nanpi County Zhenghe Heating and Weichang County Heating Company — flanged gate valves, welded ball valves, and check valves for district heating network maintenance.
Hebei Renhua Heating (Renqiu heating network project) — full-bore welded ball valves with metal hard sealing and triple-offset butterfly valves for the primary heating network.
Gansu Provincial Installation and Construction Group (Tianshui heating network) — full-bore welded ball valves, welded control butterfly valves, and welded pressure reducing valves across two contract packages for district heating pipeline installation.
Huaneng Jiakou Power Plant to New Western District Long-Distance Heat Supply Pipeline (via Qingdao West Coast Municipal Engineering) — electric and manual dual-direction metal hard-seal butterfly valves, flanged butterfly valves, gate valves, and automatic exhaust valves for a long-distance district heating transmission pipeline project.
Water Supply and Water Treatment
Lanzhou City Waterworks — electric butterfly valves, manual gate valves, and electric gate valves for urban water supply infrastructure.
Inner Mongolia Junggar Yellow River Water Authority (Wanjia Zhai Yellow River water diversion project) — a technically complex scope covering liquid-controlled and electric half-ball valves, expansion joints, check valves, gate valves, exhaust and intake valves, butterfly valves, and pressure relief valves for a large-scale water diversion pumping system. Water diversion projects at this scale involve high flow rates, large bore sizes, and pump trip protection requirements — getting the check valve and control valve specifications right is an engineering exercise, not just a procurement one.
Shanxi Jinhai Ocean Yellow River Water Supply (water supply project) — manual and electric soft-seal butterfly valves, soft-seal gate valves, counterweight liquid-controlled safety valves, electric cast-iron copper-inlaid sluice gates, stacked beam gates, and sluice gate hoists for a water supply infrastructure project.
Shanghai Kaiquan Pump Group — flanged expansion butterfly valves DN1400 for large-bore pump system integration.
Xinlin Haote (Xilinhot New District Wastewater Treatment, via Beijing Ketai) — soft-seal concealed-stem gate valves, pneumatic butterfly valves, electric modulating butterfly valves, hand/electric butterfly valves, electric wafer slurry valves, check valves, and slow-closing check valves across two separate contracts for a wastewater treatment facility. Wastewater treatment valves handle media carrying suspended solids, treatment chemicals, and sludge — rubber-lined and corrosion-resistant material selections are standard.
Anshan Fengsheng Wastewater Treatment Plant — butterfly slow-closing check valves for pump discharge protection.
Jiaohe City Wastewater Treatment Project — electric slurry valves and electric gate valves for wastewater treatment infrastructure.
Yongzhou Lingling Urban Construction Investment (municipal water supply pipeline) — dual-direction hard-seal flanged butterfly valves PN10, soft-seal gate valves, dual-port automatic exhaust valves, and limited-displacement expansion joints for a municipal water supply pipeline project.
Aerospace and Special Cooling Water Systems
China Gas Turbine Research Institute (remote relocation project) — multi-function pump control valves, swing check valves, and wafer lift check valves for cooling water systems, plus electric and manual flat gate valves and globe valves across two separate contracts. Cooling water systems for aerospace test facilities have higher reliability requirements than standard industrial cooling water — valve selection for pump trip protection and system isolation needs to reflect that.

Resilient-seated gate valves for buried service — concealed-stem soft-seal gate valves in ductile iron or carbon steel for buried water supply and distribution pipelines. Corrosion protection coating and end-cap protection for buried installation are standard requirements.
Butterfly valves for large-bore isolation — dual-direction hard-seal flanged butterfly valves and triple-offset designs for large-bore water supply headers, pump station isolation, and district heating primary network. Size range typically DN300 to DN1400 for main line applications.
Welded ball valves for district heating — direct-buried insulated full-bore welded ball valves for primary heating networks, where leak-free performance over a long service life in a buried environment is the primary requirement. Standard flanged ball valves are not appropriate for direct-buried heating network service.
Check valves for pump discharge — slow-closing butterfly check valves and micro-resistance slow-closing check valves for pump discharge protection in water supply pump stations and wastewater lift stations. Water hammer on pump trip is a common cause of pipeline damage in municipal water systems — check valve selection and sizing matter.
Pump control valves for large pumping systems — multi-function pump control valves on large pump discharge lines, combining check valve function with pressure control to manage surge on pump start and stop.
Slurry valves and rubber-lined valves for wastewater — electric slurry valves and rubber-lined butterfly valves for media carrying suspended solids, sludge, and treatment chemicals in wastewater treatment applications.
